How to search
By way of a search screen, questions can be put to the database. This database contains all the photographs of the City Archives that are currently accessible.

In the first field you can search at random for any word in a description. Type the whole word or just a part and:
*, if you don’t know the rest of the word or,
?, if you don’t know a letter in the word.
In both cases the database gives you all possible options for the used sings, for example: Sint-Jansbasiliek or *Jan* or Sint-J?n will yield different results.
Other fields will give you more search possibilities for specific parts, like a certain number, document, collection, lemma, producer or date. For example: select a certain collection from the list of available collections, like the collection photographs. You can also combine two or more fields.
Presentation of the search results
The results are presented as a table with up to 10 found photographs, the next 10 may be viewed by clicking the button “volgende 10 resultaten” or the previous 10 by clicking “previous 10 results”. The photographs are presented as thumbnails for a quick view and navigation. Click the thumbnail for an image with a higher resolution.
